INTRODUCTION TO QGIS TOOLS CLASS

 -  An introduction to Google Earth was deemed necessary as it was one of the sources that are going to be used for the project. On  April 07, our lecturer, Dr Zakiah, arranged a virtual class to give us a tutorial on how to navigate around Google Earth. During the lecture, we learned how to key in the coordinates, set the placemark, create the site boundary using a polygon, and get the measurement of the area. Also, we earned an insight on how to assess the elevation and road-network. - The class had the opportunity to be tutored by Miss Fatiah, Dr Zakiah's PhD student, on the basics of QGIS. QGIS is a cross-platform desktop geographic information system program that allows users to access, modify, and analyze geospatial data for free. It is available as a free download and installation on your device. QGIS also has several plug-ins that expand its capabilities. Miss Fatiah showed us how to install the software and become familiar with its structure, interface, and core functions.
